Mufti Day - "March for Missio"

This event will take place between 8:00am and 4:00pm on 04/10/2019

I am writing to provide information of a whole school Mufti-day on Friday 4th October 2019 to support March a Mile for Missio.

Pope Francis has designated October as the extra-ordinary Month of Mission for the work of Missio, the Church’s official overseas charity. Missio ignites God's love by helping missionaries to work alongside communities globally that are among the poorest in the world or in need in any way, regardless of their background or belief. All of the Catholic schools of our Trust are uniting together to ‘March a Mile for Missio’.

On Friday 4th October 2019 students and staff of Thomas Becket School will take part in ‘March a Mile for Missio’, during the school day.

The children should arrive at school at the usual time wearing appropriate clothes for walking including trainers and with a water bottle. Children should be prepared with coats and umbrellas in the event of adverse weather conditions.

After lunch the students will depart from line up for a one mile walk to support this charity. They will then return to lessons prior to dismissal. Students arriving to school in Mufti will be asked to contribute £1 per student will be donated to Missio.

A giant-sized cheque will be presented to Missio at the School’s Diocesan Mass on 11th October. Sixty children from the Trust will be attending the Mass with the Head Teachers and staff. The money raised by the St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Academy Trust will be added to that of the other fifty-two Catholic schools in our Diocese who will also be attending the Mass and will have contributed towards this cause through various fund-raisers.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact your Head of Year. Thank you as always for your support.
