What if my child is ill on the day of the exam?
If your child wakes up ill, they still need to come in for their exam. Unless it is an emergency the exam boards still require sick students to attend exams to have a mark given. In the case of extreme illness, please contact the school main line and the exams team/SLT can decide the best way forward.
What if my child is late to the exam?
The exam boards have a window of time that we can admit students. We ask students to be in school 30 minutes before the start of any exam they have. If your child is going to miss the start time of their exam, please call the school main line and let us know so the exams team can prepare for their arrival. Any child who is admitted to the exam late will be given the full amount of time. Any child who is extremely late (1 hour or more) can be admitted but the exam board may refuse the paper.
What happens if my child misses an exam?
If your child misses an exam without an exceptional reason, the exam board will mark that paper as a 0. They cannot re-sit a missed paper in the same exam series, and it cannot be moved to a different day. If there is an exceptional reason, please contact the school main line so the exams team can contact the exam board. In the case of a nationwide disruption to a paper, the exam would be moved to a contingency day.
When does my child need to be available until?
The exam boards create contingency days every year in case of disruption to the exam schedule. This year, the last date this is planned on is the 25th June. Please do not plan anything on this date.
When are results days?
This year, results day for GCSE is on Thursday 21st August 2025 and for A-Level is Thursday 14th August 2025. Please note that results will not be handed to “friends” under any circumstances. If the student cannot collect the results themselves, they need to fill out the 3rd Party Collection Form which is on the exams page of the school website.
It is extremely important that you and your parents/guardians check any paperwork you are given relating to your exams, particularly the date, time and level of entry i.e. foundation or higher.
This is your responsibility. All exam dates should be recorded in your planner, as well as written on a calendar at home, so that your family also know when you have your exams.
If you cannot attend an exam for any reason OR you are running late on the day of an exam you must inform the school immediately. Failure to do so could result in you failing that exam.
If you are ill before an exam, or have an accident, you MUST inform the Exams Office as soon as possible so that we can help and advise you.
