We are delighted to have been awarded the Rose of Northamptonshire Award!
Back in March, the community at Thomas Becket Catholic School did all they could for the students in their care and the families that they serve. The staff not only set themselves the target of delivering high quality video lessons, providing weekly feedback and calling their students every week to care for them throughout the first period of lockdown, but the Secondary school community were also quick to respond to the needs of their local community and have continued to do so during the pandemic; from working with local food banks, establishing their own foodbank in the school, as well as providing and coordinating the delivery of food parcels and other items to support families in need.
This week, we were thrilled to receive a joint letter from the Lord-Lieutenant of Northampton, The High Sheriff of Northamptonshire and the Northamptonshire County Council, recognising the hard work and determination that the school has shown ‘when faced with the unprecedented threat from the Coronavirus outbreak - keeping our communities together and those most at risk safe. It has been an immensely challenging period for everyone and there is still much ahead of us. However, we feel it right to take this opportunity to display our admiration and appreciation for the work you have done and continue to do.’
"It is an absolute privilege to serve Thomas Becket Catholic school and the wider community. It has been a source of great joy to work with the wider community to support some of the most vulnerable, and, in particular, I would like to thank the incredible team at Revolution Zero for their commitment, knowledge and support in establishing a foodbank at our school and the wonderful, passionate team at Northampton Catholic Cathedral who continue this vital work.
As we continue to work together, I know that I can continue to rely on our community to do all we can to make a difference for the children and families we serve.”
The award is due to be presented at a virtual ceremony at a later date.
