Trust’s Chair takes on the Great Manchester Run

The Chair of the St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Academies Trust (STCCAT), Mr Chris Atkin, is set to take on the Great Manchester Run for the second time later this month.

As someone who volunteers so much time to our schools, chairing our trust, serving on our local school committees and volunteering to teach maths in our primary schools, we wanted to share his fundraising journey with you.

Mr Atkin will be taking on the Great Manchester Run’s Half Marathon on Sunday 19th May, a distance of 13 miles and 192 yards to be precise or an impressive 21.0975km in total.

Running in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity which is close to his heart, Mr Atkin said: “I am running in honour of my Aunty Joan, one person who lives with Alzheimer's and at age 90 she has had a good life, but there are plenty of much younger people who are not so lucky.

“I have friends and family who have struggled with their loved ones, with something that can be so devastating in so many ways.

“I hope that by taking part in the Great Manchester Run, I can raise awareness of this remarkable charity and help to raise valuable funds that will make a real difference to the lives of people living with dementia and their families.”
